Employees of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau – Cordillera Administrative Region reported an oil leak in its regional office here.
MGB Mine Safety division chief Felizardo Gacad said that on Friday morning last week, the employees smelled nauseating odor of gas in their office. Water coming off the faucet also smelled of gas. The employees reported the incident to the Baguio Water District worried as they were of contamination.
Gacad said that they have no idea how the incident happened but they are considering a possible leakage of oil from a neighboring gas station. He disclosed that the incident also created fear of the danger of fire or explosion with presence of oil in their office. Employees were also worried hat it might affect other buildings near the gas station or near the MGB office.
The BWD is yet to release a report on their investigation of the incident.
