The city government will beef up its disaster brigade and implement more drills as it sought to enhance the city’s preparedness for earthquakes and other calamities.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan Monday told the city department heads that he will strengthen the present City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), provide more equipment and enhance its capability to respond to the needs of the constituents before, during and after any calamity.

The mayor said the city will also endeavor to zone existing sinkholes and other areas proclaimed as danger zones or geologically hazardous for incorporation in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) currently being prepared and to adopt appropriate measures to safeguard the said areas.

Later on Wednesday, the mayor reiterated his call on residents to be constantly prepared for calamities in face of the earthquake threat hounding the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire which includes the Philippines.
“Let’s continue to pray that it will not happen to us and let us prepare ourselves for any eventuality,” the mayor said. (AR,Baguio City PIO//PIA CAR)
