LAGAWE, Ifugao - Elected officials here believe that there is much to be grateful as the province turns 45 on June 18, 2011.

Congressman Teddy Baguilat Jr, cited three points why the Ifugaos should be thankful, “The first thing that we should be thankful for is having good leaders who are united in working hard for the good of the province,” he said.

The other reasons he mentioned are the good achievements of the youth, and that there was no disaster that struck the province last year and the first semester of this year.

Baguilat also mentioned that the province is now number 55 in the whole country in terms of poverty. “About 10 years ago, we were number four thus we have all the reasons to celebrate,” he said.

Governor Eugene Balitang averred that the occasion shows how the province has grown to be what it is now, “May it be an inspiration for the next 45 years,” he said.

Attended by folks all over the province, the first day started with a street dancing which was participated by nine municipalities followed by the opening program.

Other activities included the opening of the photo exhibit of the Ifugao and an agro-industrial, an interfaith prayer rally, and battle of the bands in the evening. (VDB PIA CAR,Ifugao)
